July that passed July 31, 2007

July went by so fast. It’s already the 31st today.

  • I got a new phone about a month ago — again. I know, I know. I traded in my Nokie 6280 for a Nokia 6300. It’s really thin; the features are exactly the same as the N6280 except that it’s not a slider phone anymore. One of the reasons I switched is becasuse I didn’t want a slider phone anymore. But even before I got the N6280 (free from Globe), I have always wanted a Sony Ericsson P990i. I really, seriously think that this is it for me. After a long string of different phones (N6600, N7610, Motorola v3x — I think I still missed out on a few phones in between these), I think that I’d finally end my “search” for the ultimate phone with the P990i. It’s a phone, computer & PDA all rolled into one. It has a 2 megapixel camera but there are a lot of ways that you can set it up to give you the best quality picture — or even the silliest. (”,) It’s so sleek and elegant and I think I’m meant to have a “bulky” phone. The N6300 is really thin and small but I think it’s a tad too small for me. Overtime at work is not paid out until the next month so with all the overtime that I’ve incurred this month, I’m just waiting for all of them to be accredited to my August 15 payout and I’m off to Greenhills to buy my brand spankin’ new Sony Ericsson P990i. The price getting cheaper by the week is just an added (much welcomed) bonus. The price dropping means that there are a lot of newer, better, more updated phones coming out but I think that even if the P990i is getting cheaper it can still hold it’s own against all the other phones (or PDAs) coming out.

  • Whew, that was long! Hehe I just really want my P990i. ;) Over the weekend, S.O. and I had a cartoon marathon with friends. First things first, we skipped work last Friday, I know, bad. =P We met up with a group of friends at Chili’s and drank. The guys had beer while the girls had a pitcher of Margarita (my fave! I didn’t like their mix that much, though) — they called us the “margarita girls”, hehe. Slept over at S.O.’s place and met up with officemates over lunch on Saturday. After lunch we transferred to the karaoke place that we always go to and sang our hearts out the whole afternoon! S.O. drank with the guys again (I’m not much of a beer drinker) and I had 2 Coke Lights, hehe. Oh, I drank a bottle of beer. Haha wow! =P After that we went to Rockwell to meet up with friends (another couple) and we watched the 10pm screening of The Simpsons Movie. It was HILARIOUS! I don’t know how to better describe other than there was never a dull scene the entire movie! I loooove the Spiderpig scene! Hahaha! I recommend it to everyone! Sunday afternoon, I picked up S.O. and we went to Greenhills to have his Xbox checked because it wasn’t working anymore. It was too expensive to have fixed and I think he’s decided to just sell it. But we just brought the console so everyone we asked wanted to buy it at a cheaper prices because it wasn’t complete. I think we’ll just bring it back next time. So I texted our friend and invited them (together with his “friend”, hehe status: complicated) to watch Ratatouille with us. Then another friend came along with us be he was solo. Before meeting up with anyone, S.O. and I had dinner at Won ton first. I had the Spicy Pork Chop with Tofu and Shrimp Wanton Noodles. It was both yummy! S.O. ordered Beef Teriyaki Rice Toppings - it was so so. After that we bought tickets and waited for the movie to start (we caught the 10pm screening at Promenade). The movie was ok but it wasn’t wow for me. I’m not really sure why, maybe because I saw Simpsons first? I really don’t know. It was a good movie, generally.

  • I have a new boss and everyone’s calling him monster. He’s bossy, arrogant, know-it-all, and everything else. He’s talking to his co-managers like he’s the better one or like he has the higher position but they’re all (3 of them) the same! I don’t know how else to describe him but everyone’s talking behind his back already. He’s not really likeable anymore.

Read: "I Feel Bad About My Neck" July 10, 2007

I was reading the June 2007 issue of Metro Magazine when I landed on the page where they were doing a review on books. I love books. Especially romance novels — I can go on and on all day just reading these.Ü My bestfriend was the one who introduced me to these lovely books. I like romance novels written by Nora Roberts, Jude Devaraux, Judith McNaught, Johanna Lindsay and the like.

Going back to the Metro mag book review page, there’s this book that they recommended titled “I Feel Bad About My Neck — and Other Thoughts On Being a Woman” written by Nora Ephron. The same author that brought us When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail and Bewitched. I was already interested with the book with the just the title but after discovering that she’s the same author as the others I made up my mind to buy the book. It’s not anything like the romance books I read (with Lords and Dukes and Knights and Damsels in Distress) but it’s reality in a way that I know I’ll learn something from it.

Here are selected bits of wisdom from the chapter “What I Wish I’d Known”:

  • Buy, don’t rent.

  • Don’t buy anything that is 100% wool even if it seems to be very soft and not particularly itchy when you try it on in the store.

  • You can’t be friends with people who call after 11 pm.

  • The world’s greatest baby-sitter burns out after two and a half years.

  • The plane is not going to crash.

  • At the age of 55 you will get a saggy roll just above your waist even if you are painfully thin.

  • Write everything down.

  • You can order more than one dessert.

  • Back up your files.

  • If the shoe doesn’t fit in the store, it’s never going to fit.

  • When youre children are teenagers, it’s important to have a dog so someone in the house is happy to see you.

  • If friends ask you to be their child’s guardian in case they die in a plane crash, you can say no.

Payday is on Friday, just in time for me to buy this book. Yey!Ü

Tired July 7, 2007

Filed under: Blah — eternally pink @ 7:26 am

I am so tired from work. I’ve had been working 13-15 hour days for the past 2 weeks already. Even 4th of July, which is a holiday, we had to render overtime. Ugh. The project is in kinda being looked on by everyone. We haven’t met our metrics for the past 3 months already, I think. So everyone’s (Client) eyes are on us.

I’m ranting about the 4th of July overtime because it was our 3rd year anniversary. We just had lunch at Friday’s then went home right after. No time even for a little sexy time ;) Hehehe.. Anyway, last weekend SO and I were able to watch Transformers already and it was sooo good! I wasn’t a fan of it before (I was more a Barbie kid, hehe) but now I am! The robots were so nice in, uhm, transforming (hehe for lack of a better word). Every single minute of the 2 and a half hour film was captivating. There was never a dull scene in the movie!(”,)
