Project Blog #1: Media Habits March 28, 2008
I just recently made ‘public’ this blog to my fellow Girltalkers. There’s a thread there entitled Support Group for GT Bloggers. After reading through the posts, it inspired me to share my own blog. Though I haven’t really shared my real name this blog will still let them know me more as a person.
From that thread, a fellow GTalker (Mindy), was kind enough to create a blogring for all of us GT Bloggers. I’m proud to say I’m part of that blogring. The Project Blog was born from there - something for the group to do & update and it will also help each other know more about how the other GT bloggers think & feel about certain topics.
A new project will be posted every Sunday, it’s now Friday and I haven’t done the project yet. Don’t get me wrong it’s not something I have to do, I want to do it. I’m actually excited about what the next projects would be. I just can’t believe it that it’s taken me this long to do this particular project.
Media Habits
- What do you read, watch, download, listen to? Why do you prefer those?
- I actually read a lot but most of them are non-fiction books. I like the romantic, sappy, cheesy, corny, tear-jerker kind of novels, hehe.
I was introduced to this type of books when my bestfriend offered to lend me one, and the rest is history.
Now my mom is telling me to dispose of these books because we’ll soon move to another house and my precious books will just be kalat. - Watching movies is BF and I’s past time. When we still had the same schedule before (get out of work at 11am), we would catch new movies every Wednesday. But now, we just watch on the weekends. TV, I loooove watching CSI! Las Vegas and New York to be exact but I’m starting to love Miami, I just like it now. I also like watching sitcoms like Everybody Loves Raymond, Will & Grace, Friends, etc - obviously these are reruns, hehe. I only get to watch a little TV before going to sleep this is around 10am-2pm so there’s not much on. Oh! I also have this thing with cooking shows! I watch it every chance I get. With music, I can say I like all of the genres. I just like techno/house/chill out more. May it be old school (as in Beatles, even The Platters), hip hop, RnB, rock, even country, I like ‘em! The one thing I can’t stand is the really hard rock type of music - like the screaming, scary ones.

- What do you do on the internet?
-
I surf! Hehe at work Girltalk is almost always open the whole shift - I just refresh once in a while to check if there are new replies (I’m not being biased :P). When I get home, I automatically check my accounts in multiply, friendster, & facebook. Sometimes myspace when I remember to.
Of course, I also check my email.

- How much have you spent/save on this habit?
- Hmmm, I can’t really say I’ve saved on buying books because the authors that I like doesn’t come cheap in National Bookstore - they usually price it at P359!
But I always check out Booksale and Chapters & Pages because they usually carry the authors that I like.

My friend (& officemate), G, brought up the TV series Supernatural saying how she can’t watch it by herself because it’s really creepy. The DVD she has was borrowed from our other officemate (& friend) C. He actually told us to watch it because he said that it’s really nice. Since G doesn’t want to watch it at home we decided to watch a couple of episodes in her car. Her car has this stock radio that’s über nice, as in it has a touch-screen-TV-in-it-nice. Anyway, she was telling me that she wasn’t even able to finish the 1st episode because it was too creepy for her. So we went down to the parking lot and watched. We were screaming!!! Hahaha! Each of us were hugging a pillow to just hug and also to help cover our eyes in the really scary scenes. I can’t really say at which parts we were screaming. The whole series is so kick ass!
t while he was walking towards the car he heard us screaming! Haha! He thought he might give us a heart attack already if he still scared us so he said that he just approached the car slowly so we’ll see him. We couldn’t see him through the windshield because we put up a sun shade because it was difficult to watch with the glare from outside. I now love Supernatural and can’t wait to watch the whole Season 1 - I know, I’m kinda late, well I am late but better than never actually watching it at all, right?
We left the office around 3:30am to go to Tagaytay! Yey! I love these impromptu
trips! We arrived in Tagaytay around 5am. Luckily, Starbucks is open 24 hours so we just stayed there to wait for sunrise. C, BF and I all had Caramel Macchiatos while M had a Cafe Masto (brewed coffee w/ milk, I think) then I ordered a slice of Oreo Cheesecake, BF had the Tuna Dill something sandwich and M had a Cinnamon Swirl. It was sooo cold! Good thing I brought a jacket. We just talked about random stuff and laughed at C because he was the only one without a jacket.
We just waited for sunrise and since the sun was fully up by 6:10 am the restaurants weren’t open yet we decided to drive around to look for food.
BF and I watched this movie last movie last Saturd
ay in Mall of Asia (MOA). A few of our friends were saying that the movie wasn’t that good but we still decided to see the movie and decide for ourselves. The movie was ok, it wasn’t an “Oh my God” kinda movie but it was interesting. I think the plot was kinda shallow and it all revolved around this one guy running after his girl. Now, don’t get me wrong, that’s sappy, cheesy & romantic but this is like an epic movie or some historical stuff and it revolved around this? Oh well, it was a bit suspenseful so we were interested enough to finish the movie. Oh and I guess anyone would run after the girl because she is gorgeous.
Yesterday was a very looong day. My friend M is getting married in April so we went to the manang who would make the gowns for the entourage to have me (together with a cousin & an aunt) measured for the gown. We both came from a shift Friday night so we didn’t have any sleep. Saturday morning, we left the office at 7am to go home to her house to leave my car & to meet up with M’s aunt & cousin. Thank God they were taking a driver because I wouldn’t have any energy to drive anymore. Divisoria is an area in Manila where you see all kinds of people from different walks of life. This is like the source of everything - fabrics, baking ingredients, baking stuff, ribbons, pans, pots, as in everything at 250% less the price outside (like department stores, boutiques or malls). But you co
uld just imagine how crowded this place is. Don’t take me wrong, I like it here, not only because your thousand bucks can go a long way but you’d be surprised at the things you’ll see & experience. We walked to the manang then had ourselves measured then walked back out. Oh, we brought along 1 of the flower girls (she’s 6 years old) and she was mesmerized! Haha she kept on looking around and taking in the sites - I think she enjoyed herself!
There’s a new Petron across the highway from M’s place that just opened and it’s like of the many gas stations in the metro that has coffee shops/establishments that was built in it. We stayed at
Gonuts Donuts for a while. We were waiting for BF’s text so that we’ll know what time to leave for Mall of Asia. I had a Hazelnut Crunch cupcake (described in their
and had some crunch in the icing. The drink was a different story! It was sooo sweet I didn’t even finish it. M and I were saying that since the cupcake wasn’t sweet it was pretty balanced but no, it wasn’t. The drink was really too sweet for me - and to think I like sweets!
M’s fiance works at Dell in their Mall Of Asia (MOA) site so she was still with me when I went to MOA. We just walked around when we got there. We attempted to look at Havaianas flip flops in All Flip Flops but there were sooo many people! You couldn’t even get close to the slippers on the wall because there was a crowd gathered in front already so we just decided to
go to Crocs and look at their stuff instead. I am in love with the Malindi! It’s like the Prima but the style of this one is its a slingback! I WILL buy one! I will just have to save for it
They ordered a Beef Casserole (P220) and rice while I had Tahong (Mussels) ala Pobre - P135) - now this was yummy!
the fireworks we went our separate ways already. BF and I decided to watch 10,000 B.C. - we caught the 7:50 pm screening - my take on this movie on a separate post.
1.) Carmine Giovinazzo - From CSI: NY; plays the character Danny Messer. I don’t know what it is about him but I really like how he looks - rugged/bad boy image but when you see him in character he’s such a nice guy! *Sigh* Oh and I looove his ‘eyebrows knit together’ look. And he seems really passionate when he’s doing his role as Danny - like he’s always heated up when he has discussions with other characters.
3.) George Eads - From CSI; plays the character Nick Stokes. This guy grew on me. I didn’t find him handsome at first but as I got to see him in every episode I started to realize that he’s good looking after all. Kinda like a boy next door type also. I’m thinking he was the kind jock during highschool & college; he’s a popular kid but at the same time he would volunteer to build houses for the poor during his free time - haha, my imagination see how far it goes!
BF, bestfriend C, our close college friend (also an officemate) G and I watched Vantage Point at Eastwood last night. We caught the 10:30pm screening - and we got there 10:35pm. On a side note, I’m a stickler for things like this; if something is starting at a particular time I want to be there either at least 5-10minutes early or just in time for the movie, program or whatever to start.
the movie I realized on the first flashback how the movie was made. The ‘tagline’ of the movie is 8 Strangers 8 Points of View 1 Truth; literally there are 8 strangers and the story is ‘told’ by showing how these people see the ‘main event’ (don’t really want too much spoilers
