Pocketful of Sunshine May 3, 2008

A lot has happened over the past 2 weeks and obviously I haven’t had the time to update anything here. I can’t even post in GT Since I started at Globe the earliest I left the office is at around 7pm and tumatakas nako nun! Hehe I’m still at my learning curve and I’m sure I’ll get my rhythm soon. But seriously, no one stands up at 5pm sharp! When 5pm rolls in, it’s like 3pm - everyone’s deadma! Anyway, a quick recap of what happened with me — these past 2 weeks it was just house-work-quick yosi with BF-house — day in & day out that’s about what happens to me. I can’t even check my emails because when I get home I just take a quick shower, dress up and even before my head hits the pillow I’m asleep already. Yesterday (May 1), was my Lolo & Mama’s (Lola) 50th Wedding Anniversary! It was a grand celebration - they renewed their wedding vows in church and we had a huge reception at Max’s in Sucat. I’ll post some pictures as soon as I can since they’re not even uploaded to the pc yet.

I’m not a really huge fan of American Idol but I did like that Always Be My Baby rock version by one of the contestants (I know some are cringe-ing saying “You don’t know who he is?!” but as I’ve said I don’t have time to even check my emails what more watch TV). Last night, I caught some parts of AI and saw Natasha Bedingfield’s live performance of Pocketful of Sunshine and I LOVED it! Hehe she’s not even part of the show

My Live Signature April 2, 2008

I was browsing through some blogs here in wordpress when I came across this blog (sorry I’m still trying to find it) and when I scrolled down I saw that she had a signature after every post. I’m not really sure if she’s directly connected with wordpress but she gives tips about wordpress. I saw something about how to add a signature. I think I tried to follow that and didn’t succeed, I forgot already, but, what I did was I just googled about how to add signatures to blogs and came across the site named MyLiveSignature. They can do real signatures but you’ll have to send them a copy of your signature, of course, and I’m not sure how long before they’ll send back the file. There’s also a feature in the site where you’ll write with your mouse and they’ll create the signature for you but it was quite hard because it didn’t really look like my handwriting.

You’ll go through several pages of options - what your signature actually is, font, size, color, etc. And this is what I came up with.. Tada!

*Edit:  I was going through the different themes of wordpress and as I opened each theme to view how my blogs would look the “eternally pink” signature kept on popping out because of the bright pink color. As much as I looove pink this particular shade was too bright for me and I wanted something really elegant & neat so I created a new one which is smaller and more subtle.

Alvin and the Chipmunks April 1, 2008

I looove Theodore! Haha after such a long time of wanting to watch this movie I finally watched it over the weekend at BF’s place. I was on my way to pick him up Sunday afternoon to go the mall when he texted me that he was left alone in the house which means we can’t leave - apparently the maids left also. When I got there he was watching There Will Be Blood but he said that I can watch whatever I want since he’s stopping the DVD because he found the movie slow. I can’t really agree yet because I haven’t seen it yet. I chose to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks. It was so light and funny! I found them so cute. I even told BF that I wanted a chipmunk of my own, haha! I’m always like this, whenever we watch a movie (or even just TV) and I see an animal I like or find cute I tell him that I want one, hehe. I wanted a seal once, and a whale, plus dogs, birds, cats, name it! Going back, there were scenes in the movie that I was just smiling and cuddling an imaginary chipmunk in my arms because I found them (especially Theodore) so adorable! Haha I’m sounding weird now Here’s a synopsis I got from this site:

 

In a tree farm, three musically inclined chipmunks, Alvin, Simon and Theodore, find their tree cut down and sent to Los Angeles. Once there, they meet the frustrated songwriter David Seville, and despite a poor house wrecking first impression, they impress him with their singing talent. Seeing the opportunity for success, both human and chipmunks make a pact for them to sing his songs. While that ambition proves a frustrating struggle with the difficult trio, the dream does come true after all. However, that success presents its own trials as their unscrupulous record executive, Ian Hawke, plans to break up this family to exploit the boys.

Supernatural March 28, 2008

My friend (& officemate), G, brought up the TV series Supernatural saying how she can’t watch it by herself because it’s really creepy. The DVD she has was borrowed from our other officemate (& friend) C. He actually told us to watch it because he said that it’s really nice. Since G doesn’t want to watch it at home we decided to watch a couple of episodes in her car. Her car has this stock radio that’s über nice, as in it has a touch-screen-TV-in-it-nice. Anyway, she was telling me that she wasn’t even able to finish the 1st episode because it was too creepy for her. So we went down to the parking lot and watched. We were screaming!!! Hahaha! Each of us were hugging a pillow to just hug and also to help cover our eyes in the really scary scenes. I can’t really say at which parts we were screaming. The whole series is so kick ass! We finished 2 straight episodes then the CD started acting up on the 3rd (pirated eh :P). Oh yeah, C was supposed to come with us but he was still doing something upstairs so G and I went ahead. On our way up again, C was telling us how he was supposed to scare us by appearing out of nowhere on the windows of the car but while he was walking towards the car he heard us screaming! Haha! He thought he might give us a heart attack already if he still scared us so he said that he just approached the car slowly so we’ll see him. We couldn’t see him through the windshield because we put up a sun shade because it was difficult to watch with the glare from outside. I now love Supernatural and can’t wait to watch the whole Season 1 - I know, I’m kinda late, well I am late but better than never actually watching it at all, right? It also helps with the scary factor that the actor (who plays Dean, one of the brothers) is sooo hot! He portrays this bad ass character but also has a soft spot when it comes to family. I will definitely by my own copy of Season 1, hehe, Season 2’s still running now I’ll just wait until that’s done before I buy my copy but I don’t think I can wait, haha!

Marlboro Lights Blue March 11, 2008

I smoke. A lot, I believe. I’m at the point where when I don’t smoke my throat starts acting up. Tsk tsk, bad I know but it’s hard to quit - I know other smokers can relate to this. And to be honest, I’m not yet ready. I don’t want to quit. If I forced myself I’ll just end up smoking more after being deprived of it.

 

I’ve always smoked Winston Lights - well, for the longest time that is. But I did learn to smoke with Lucky Strikes - thinking about it now, yikes! I can’t imagine how I did that. After that, during highschool, I distinctly remember smoking Marlboro Lights, Reds and then Winston Lights - ahhh that was way better. It was just right for me, it slides down my throat real smooth. I can take Marlboro Reds (really strong for my taste) but I cannot take Menthols! Ugh, I really can’t. I can’t imagine my dad smoking them for 35 years. :X

 

Anyway, last Friday BF showed me this new cigarettes that Marlboro came up with. The box says Lights but after tasting it, it was like Winston Lights. It was way lighter than Marlboro Lights (Gold). And as you can see, the box is Blue & White - it’s like an “in your face” to Winston, haha. It wasn’t until this morning, before heading home, that I bought my own pack of Marlboro Blue. They don’t sell it as just a pack yet; it still comes in a nice box with a lighter. It’s priced at P38 (about $0.95!) but that’s because there’s still a lighter; but Marlboros have been more expensive than Winstons eversince so I’m assuming that eventually this will be priced at P30 (like other Marlboros). I think I’ll still stick to my Winstons, its cheaper by, at the most, P5.

 

BF and I have been talking about smoking and he always brings it up that what if we stop. Cold turkey? I don’t think I can. I told him that if I want to do something, I’ll do it on my own because the more you keep on pestering me about something the more I won’t budge. So there, I don’t think I’ll be quitting anytime soon.

BF and I watched this movie last movie last Saturday in Mall of Asia (MOA). A few of our friends were saying that the movie wasn’t that good but we still decided to see the movie and decide for ourselves. The movie was ok, it wasn’t an “Oh my God” kinda movie but it was interesting. I think the plot was kinda shallow and it all revolved around this one guy running after his girl. Now, don’t get me wrong, that’s sappy, cheesy & romantic but this is like an epic movie or some historical stuff and it revolved around this? Oh well, it was a bit suspenseful so we were interested enough to finish the movie. Oh and I guess anyone would run after the girl because she is gorgeous.

 

Here’s a short plot I got from the internet:
When his tribe is attached, teenage caveman D’Leh (Steven Strait) must venture into the unknown to rescue his true love, Evolet (Camilla Belle), and his fellow tribesman, who’ve been enslaved by a clan of mysterious marauders on horseback. Along the way he’ll have to face saber toothed tigers, woolly mammoths, and giant mutant ostriches (seriously).

 

 

CSI Hotties March 6, 2008

I am sooo addicted to CSI. Be it CSI, CSI: NY or CSI: Miami. I can watch reruns over and over and over again! Haha I’ve been meaning to buy the DVD sets since season 1 but every time BF and I drop by one of the dibidi places I don’t have enough cash with me, ngek, I’d rather wait until I have money & buy the complete set than just buy one and be bitin. Every Sunday on AXN they show 3 episodes back to back (umm, to back..) - one episode each (CSI, NY & Miami). It starts at 12nn up to 3pm then it has replays at night which starts at 9pm up to 12nn then there’s another one at around 3am, not really sure on this though. Then there’s this new channel on Sky Cable called Foxcrime that shows reruns of old CSI episodes everyday! But it starts at 3pm and I have to be asleep by then but sometimes I stay up late and wait for it. Since I get to watch this show almost everyday I can’t help but have crushes! Hehe

Here are my crushes in order

1.) Carmine Giovinazzo - From CSI: NY; plays the character Danny Messer. I don’t know what it is about him but I really like how he looks - rugged/bad boy image but when you see him in character he’s such a nice guy! *Sigh* Oh and I looove his ‘eyebrows knit together’ look. And he seems really passionate when he’s doing his role as Danny - like he’s always heated up when he has discussions with other characters.

 

2.) Eddie Cahill - From CSI: NY; plays the character Detective Donald “Don” Flack, Jr. He’s the boy-next-door type but has a ‘dark/bad boy’ side to him - it seems that I have a liking for bad boys, haha! But he is drop dead gorgeous! I like how he looks when he’s serious but look how cute he is when he’s smiling.

3.) George Eads - From CSI; plays the character Nick Stokes. This guy grew on me. I didn’t find him handsome at first but as I got to see him in every episode I started to realize that he’s good looking after all. Kinda like a boy next door type also. I’m thinking he was the kind jock during highschool & college; he’s a popular kid but at the same time he would volunteer to build houses for the poor during his free time - haha, my imagination see how far it goes!

I found this YouTube link from my cousin’s review page in her Multiply. The kid is sooo cute & adorable. The video was obviously edited at the start but the latter part was not anymore which was where the kid did all the (cute) talking anyway.

Vantage Point March 2, 2008

BF, bestfriend C, our close college friend (also an officemate) G and I watched Vantage Point at Eastwood last night. We caught the 10:30pm screening - and we got there 10:35pm. On a side note, I’m a stickler for things like this; if something is starting at a particular time I want to be there either at least 5-10minutes early or just in time for the movie, program or whatever to start.

Anyway, I’ve heard of the movie in the Oscars and I know a little of the plot when it was being awarded but I totally forgot what the movie was all about so I was kinda pissed that we missed the start - which is where most pivotal scenes in the middle of the movie come from. And then as we were watching the movie I realized on the first flashback how the movie was made. The ‘tagline’ of the movie is 8 Strangers 8 Points of View 1 Truth; literally there are 8 strangers and the story is ‘told’ by showing how these people see the ‘main event’ (don’t really want too much spoilers ). On the 3rd stranger people were laughing as the movie was being shown like it was ‘rewinding’. I was on the edge of my seat! The movie is sooo good and when we met our other friends for drinks after I was telling them to watch the movie! It was so action packed! And every time a (significant) stranger realizes or discovers something important his/her part stops and it goes back to a particular point in the movie and starts again so I was thinking “What did he see?!”, haha, it was a bit suspenseful.

After all the points of view of these different (significant) stranger, wherever their particular scene left off , it came together in one huge scene! And then you start to discover what they saw earlier and everything falls into place. Oh this movie is goood. Two thumbs up! Very, very good. Here’s a synopsis of the film I got from IMDB:

President Ashton (William Hurt) is attending a global war on terror summit in Spain. Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) and Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox) are two of the Secret Service agents assigned to protect him. This is the first action that Agent Barnes has been in since he took a bullet for President Ashton six months earlier. We really dont know if Agent Barnes is up to the challenge of protecting the President. Shortly after President Ashton is escorted to the stage in the plaza by the Secret Service, he is immediately shot twice by a rifle from a window and falls to the floor. The crowd is in shock and chaos breaks out all over, especially, when bombs begin to explode. Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker) is an American video-taping the event to show to his children that he was actually there at this historic event. He believes that he has the picture of the man who shot the President. Agent Barnes sees the tape and has a clue to that person. Several different people witness the event, and only through their eyes do we see the truth behind the assassination attempt.
